Lived Experience of Health in Aging (1.5 units)

The emphasis of this course is on the complex nature of aging and health. Students will explore the determinants of health, as well as the common chronic and episodic challenges of health and healing in later life. Changing demographics and societal forces influencing present and future health care of older persons will be analyzed and critiqued. In additition, nursing theory and issues related to the delivery of care with older persons will be examined. Health promotion, and nursing practice, and environments that support healthy aging are integral to this course.
