Distance Programs

UVic School of Nursing has a long tradition of offering courses, professional development, BSN degree completion for registered nurses, and Master of Nursing degree, through distance education. In 1980, in response to BC nurses' increasing demands for accessible degree educational opportunities, the school offered its first course using distance education methods. By 1986, the entire program was available by distance to registered nurses living in BC, the Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. In January, 1998, the program became available to registered nurses across Canada and in January, 1999, to registered nurses in the United States. We currently have over 500 students taking courses in their home communities across Canada and the United States.
